Our woodchip is typically charged by kWh. Each delivery is weighed using a calibrated weighbridge and the moisture content is determined by following our testing protocol. This allows us to calculate the amount of energy in the load and thus its cost.
Fuel can also be supplied by the cubic metre or tonne, however these methods are imprecise, as the calorific value varies with moisture content. In the event that a customer requests this approach, we would still carry out our usual sampling and testing protocol, to check quality and keep an audit trail.
We can also work with our customer to charge based on recorded heat output. This requires a heat meter to be fitted and regularly calibrated as part of the boiler maintenance regime.
Prices are affected by a number of factors including: type and duration of contract, gross expected annual consumption, fuel specification, distance from our base, on-site delivery / fuel reception facilities. We can only specify an exact price once all these factors are clearly defined, please get in touch to discuss your requirements and get a free assessment, whatever the stage of your project or installation.
Local Authorities supplying suitable timber as part of their in-house treework operations have the potential to offset this against their biomass chip costs.
The TreeStation supplies customers in and around Greater Manchester. We offer bespoke supply contracts that guarantee quantity and quality of woodchip, tailored to meet our customers’ needs. A long term contract provides the opportunity for planning and has the benefit of ensuring a secure supply at the most advantageous price. Typically, supply options include:
- Long term (several years) supply contracts
- Commissioning contracts – chip used for the process of commissioning a new system
- ‘One-off’ or emergency woodchip supply can also be accommodated
We also offer contract chipping.
Stock control and security of supply
We are enhancing our stock control tool, which gives us visibility on our stock longevity and helps us forecast and plan requirements for purchasing local timber. This in turn ensures our customer’s security of supply, by maintaining our ability to supply our customers with chip at appropriate moisture content, even during exceptionally cold winters.
We hold several months of stocks in the form of dried and drying wood and a chipping reserve, to ensure continuity of supply in the event of machine breakdown.
The TreeStation is a Society for the Benefit of the Community, and as such is owned and controlled by its members. Since many of its customers are also members (we encourage it!), it’s fair to say that our focus on customer service literally goes to the very heart of the business. No matter how big or small, whether member or non-member, we encourage all of our customers to communicate potential concerns or comments directly to us. We have systems in place to ensure that concerns or complaints are dealt with honestly and quickly, and that positive feedback can be passed on to those who have generated it. We strive for customer service excellence at all times.
